Sanoma doubles Japanese Puzzles magazine publication in the Netherlands

Thursday, April 1, 2004 Japanese Puzzles magazine

Starting March 2004 Japanse Puzzels magazine has doubled its frequency and will be published as a monthly magazine.

Available for international subscriptions, Japanse Puzzels is a small format magazine containing 39 small and medium Conceptis Puzzles. According to Rob Geensen, Editor-in-chief of Puzzelsport, a division of Sanoma Uitgevers, the concept, looks and pricing of the monthly publication will not be changed.

In 1991 the first World Puzzle Championship took place that would turn into a successful annual event. It marked the start of a fast growing international cooperation between puzzle publishers, especially in the field of language and culture neutral puzzles. As a leading Dutch publisher and organiser of the annual Dutch Puzzle Championship, Puzzelsport participated from the start.

One of the results of this cooperation was the launching of Japanse Puzzels magazine. After a test issue in 1998 it has been published since 1999 as a regular bimonthly magazine.

The cooperation between Puzzelsport and Conceptis, which started in 1999, proved to be a huge success. Since then several other logic puzzle magazines have been published: Japanse Puzzels XXL, a bimonthly magazine with large PAP puzzles; Japanse Puzzels in Kleur, a quarterly magazine with colour PAP puzzles; Zoekplaatjes, a bimonthly magazine with LAP puzzles and Logimix, a bimonthly magazine with mixed logic puzzle types.
