Netherlands; Sanoma Uitgevers launches "Zoekplaatjes" - world’s first Link-a-Pix puzzle magazine
Monday, June 17, 2002
Following the worldwide Link-a-Pix introduction earlier this year, Sanoma Uitgevers (Netherlands) is launching Zoekplaatjes - the world’s first magazine dedicated to Link-a-Pix - a new kind of Picture-forming Logic Puzzles. Containing a mixture of 40 B&W and color puzzles, this beautifully designed magazine will be available in Dutch bookshops and newsstands starting from July 3, 2002.
Link-a-Pix puzzle clues are provided in the form of same-number pairs which are scattered inside a grid.
The purpose is to find which same-number should be paired with which, and then to connect them in such a way that the number of squares the connecting path passes through is equal to the value of the corresponding numbers. When the puzzle is completely solved, a beautiful pixel-composed picture is formed. See Rules for more.
Zoekplaatjes puzzles have been published by Sanoma Uitgevers earlier this year in other magazines with enthusiastic reader response. Here are some letters received by Hans Eendebak the editor of Puzzlesport magazines:
“I love logic puzzles, and I am very enthusiastic about Zoekplaatjes. My 7-year old son, who loves to puzzle with me, was also very enthusiastic. We both bought the latest issue so we could puzzle together. I made some mistakes first, but after a while I could explain the main puzzle instructions to my son. He started to solve the puzzles, and he finally had a great result. We hope you will continue publishing this new puzzle.” Marijke Kroes, The Netherlands
“I love this new Link-a-Pix (Zoekplaatjes) puzzle, when you are publishing a new booklet with this kind of puzzles; I want to have a subscription instantly. By the way, another name for this type of puzzle could be Picture-Mixture.” Muriel Delahaye, The Netherlands
“Link-a-Pix is GREAT!!!!I want more! I am already addicted to Pic-a-Pix puzzles but these are also very nice. To my surprise I discovered two more puzzles in Breinbrekers. Nice!” Oda de Ruyter-Nelissen, The Netherlands
“I had a lot of fun solving the Link-a-Pix puzzles: it's a nice variety of Japanese puzzles, which I also like very much. I hope to see more of these” Rody Hendriksen, The Netherlands.
