Online version of The Boston Globe's special section

A special section with new logic puzzles was published in The Boston Globe Sunday magazine on June 24, 2007.

Titled Games + Puzzles, the special section contained Conceptis Pic-a-Pix and Maze-a-Pix as well as other word-based and logic-based puzzles. According to many letters and comments sparked by the special issue that were sent to the Globe, the logic-based puzzles were favorites, but readers also love their Sudoku.

“We wanted a special fun summer issue that our fans will hold onto for several weeks and this issue did that. The special issue was a great success” says Doug Most, editor of Boston Globe Sunday Magazine. “After receiving so many enthusiastic letters we are strongly considering doing another special puzzle issue next summer,” Most adds.

The comments were very enthusiastic.

  • "Loved your puzzle edition of the Globe Magazine section. Numbers are my favorite (whatever you do, don't replace Sudoku)... Keep on puzzling!"
  • "I look forward to your weekly Sudoku, so I was thrilled to find an assortment of other puzzles this past week. I enjoyed them all... Thanks Barbara Perry"
  • "The puzzle issue was great… I don't care what new puzzles you add to the magazine. Just don't you dare eliminate my Sudoku puzzle... As you can determine, I am of a certain age, and I must have my Sudoku fix. You have been warned, Edie"

Most widely circulated daily newspaper in Boston, Massachusetts and New England

“It is obvious people still love Sudoku” says Dave Green, president of Conceptis. “It also indicates logic puzzles have a long way to go and the market potential is still far from saturation”. Comments were also posted by Conceptis members on conceptispuzzles.com as well as on a few social media sites such as Digg.com asking for more Conceptis puzzles:

  • “I would like to see the Boston Globe publish more of the puzzles from Conceptis. They are the best ever. Polly”
  • "The quizzes were tough for me, but I loved all the other puzzles - especially the Conceptis Maze-a-Pix & Pic-a-Pix. There are more of their puzzles (of these types & others) at www.conceptispuzzles.com. Happy puzzling! Sha”

Founded in 1872 by six Boston businessmen and today owned by The New York Times Company, The Boston Globe is one of the world's most well known and respected newspapers. The Boston Globe (and Boston Sunday Globe) is also the most widely circulated daily newspaper in New England.
