P.M. Logicals: new Conceptis puzzles magazine in Germany

Thursday, May 1, 2003 P.M. Logicals magazine in Germany

P.M. Logicals, a new magazine with Conceptis Puzzles, will be published on June 6 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by Gruner + Jahr Co. AG - publishers of the acclaimed P.M. Magazine. P.M. Logicals will contain PAP (Pic-a-Pix) , LAP (Link-a-Pix) and FAP (Fill-a-Pix) puzzles.

Priced at €2,60 in Germany, €3,00 in Austria and 5,10 sfr in Switzerland, the new magazine will be printed on high quality paper and will come in a new cover page style reflecting its picture-forming logic puzzle content.

Gruner + Jahr, Conceptis' first publisher in Europe, started publishing PAP puzzles in March 1999 by placing one puzzle in each Logik-Trainer magazine. In July 2000 a new magazine - the P.M. Kreativ-Trainer - was launched. Kreativ-Trainer contains about 20 PAP puzzles with a variety of sizes and difficulty levels. Following this path, the new P.M. Logicals will consist of 32 pages with 41 puzzles made by Conceptis: 10 PAPs B&W, 9 PAPs in color, 7 LAPs B&W, 6 LAPs in color, and 9 FAPs B&W.

In addition to Conceptis puzzles, P.M. Logicals will also contain 5 new picture-forming Labyrinth-Puzzles, in which the solver has to reveal a pictured solution that is made of letters and words instead of pixels.

At the same time, P.M. Logicals magazine introduces new German brand names for Conceptis puzzles. Link-a-Pix are now named as Ketten-Puzzles while Fill-a-Pix are branded as Mosaik-Puzzles. These names join Logik-Puzzles, the name given to Pic-a-Pix by P.M. Magazine more than 4 years ago.

"We looked for words that have a good sound while still seem to show what there could be inside the puzzle," says Martin Tzschaschel, Editor of P.M. Magazines. "Ketten means Chain in German, which reminds of the LAP paths, and Mosaik means Mosaic, indicating that the picture in the FAP puzzle has to be made step by step, piece by piece", he adds.

Germany is undoubtedly the "hottest" European country on Conceptis' website. Since the beginning of 2003, over 15% of Conceptis' website visitors were from Germany, while over 9% were from the Netherlands and nearly 6% - from the UK. "We expect to see these ratios reflected in the sales of the new P.M. Logicals magazines" says Dave Green, President of Conceptis. "Judging by the email, forum and other website activities we have from German members, we feel confident that P.M. Logicals will become a success".
