Worldwide Link-a-Pix subscriptions now availableMonday, January 6, 2003The world's first Link-a-Pix puzzle magazine, launched on December 2002 by Sanoma Netherlands, is now available for worldwide subscriptions on a bi-monthly basis. The new publication, named Zoekplaatjes, is a small format magazine containing a mixture of 40 B&W and color puzzles in sizes from 20x20 to 50x50. A large color centerfold of 90x45 is also included. Prices are Euro 3,25 for sales in magazine stores, Euro 17,40 for domestic subscriptions and Euro 21,48 for worldwide subscriptions. The decision to launch a regular Zoekplaatjes magazine took place following the pilot issue success in July 2002. According to Rob Geensen, Sanoma's Editor in Chief and the person responsible for launching Zoekplaatjes, 13,000 copies of the pilot issue were sold within weeks. In addition to this impressive figure, the company got "hundreds of email messages and phone calls requesting for more puzzles". "Zoekplaatjes are going to become a smash hit in the Netherlands and in the rest of the world," says Geensen "Link-a-Pix puzzles are more intuitive to understand, and easier and quicker to solve compared to other picture forming logic puzzles" he explains, and adds: "yet they offer great intellectual challenges and result in beautiful pictures when they're solved". Link-a-Pix puzzles are suitable for a wider range of puzzle solvers looking for the fun of picture-forming logic puzzles, as well as younger people - including children eight years old. "With the same look and feel as the pilot issue" Geensen concludes, "we expect Zoekplaatjes to have a great success". Conceptis is also the exclusive Link-a-Pix supplier to Japan's Sharp Space Town, for Pict-Link puzzles played on iMode and J-phone cell phones. Conceptis is also supplying Link-a-Pix puzzles to Gakken, Doumsha, Cosmic Publishing and Sun Magazine in Japan. As for the West, BEAP (UK) has been regularly publishing Link-a-Pix puzzles in Tsunami and in Tsuper Tsunami, receiving lots of enthusiastic responses. Games Magazine (USA) has also placed Link-a-Pix puzzles in August 2002 using the smart name "Paint by Pairs", and Logos Media (Russia) is placing a few Link-a-Pix puzzles in their new Conceptis-dedicated magazine called Kimono-to Nedoshito. In all cases responses were extremely positive. As previously published in Conceptis' PUZZLETIMES, Link-a-Pix puzzles originate from Japan where they have been invented and are manually created by several puzzle makers. However, according to Dave Green, president of Conceptis Ltd., to the best of the company's knowledge, Conceptis is the only company in the world which developed an algorithm for creating Link-a-Pix puzzles. "With our puzzle manufacturing capacity and following the Link-a-Pix success up to now" says Green "we expect that more European and Japanese publishers will launch new Link-a-Pix magazines during 2003".
