Conceptis launched Battleships logic puzzlesSunday, August 6, 2006
The global logic puzzle craze, started by Sudoku and enhanced by Kakuro, takes another step as Conceptis releases Battleships – a single player version of the game many of us used to enjoy as children. Using pure logic and requiring no math to solve, Conceptis Battleships offer endless fun and intellectual entertainment to puzzle fans of all skills and ages. Conceptis Battleships, now available to all Conceptis’ partners worldwide, are the result of an exclusive affiliation with Mountain Vista Software, a prominent Battleships software developer providing Battleship puzzles to Games magazine since 1999. According to Dave Green, president of Conceptis, the exclusive affiliation with Mountain Vista Software has expanded Conceptis’ portfolio with another top quality logic puzzle. Mountain Vista’s nine years experience with Battleships provides puzzles that provide a different experience compared to other puzzles available on the market today. Seven difficulty levels, three sizes and EPS/PDF file formatsConceptis Battleship puzzles come in seven distinct difficulty levels starting from Ultra Easy and up to Very Hard, taking anything from five minutes to several hours to solve. The puzzles are also available in three size configurations of 6x6, 8x8 and 10x10. Additional sizes as well as a whole range of variants will be released later this year. Battleships, just like Sudoku, are compact in size and easy-to-learn logic puzzles. Yet these puzzles provide an endless range of logic situations and difficulty levels. Thus Battleships are ideal for small or limited format media such as pocket books, newspapers and mobile phones as well as for all other large format publications. Conceptis Battleships are already finding their way to the puzzle fans. Sterling Publishing has announced the September release of YUBOTU, a dedicated book containing 180 Battleship puzzles from Conceptis. In addition, Bauer Russia, Egmont Sweden, Egmont Norway and several other publishers are already including Conceptis Battleships in their publications. About Battleship puzzlesBattleship puzzles are a single player version of the game many of us used to enjoy as children. Each puzzle consists of a 6x6, 8x8 or 10x10 grid containing a hidden fleet of known ships. The only information is numbers telling how many ship segments are in each row and column, and some given ship segments in various places in the grid. The object is to discover where all ten ships are located in the grid using only logical deduction. Known today by different names such as Solitaire Battleship, Yubotu, Baturo and others, Battleship puzzles appear in many publications around the world gaining international success both in books and magazines. Battleship puzzles are also featured in major worldwide puzzle competitions including the World Puzzle Championship, the PQRST Puzzle Championship, the Google U.S. Puzzle Championship and the Russian Diogen puzzle site.
