Logic puzzles boom out of Japan
Wednesday, November 1, 2000
Originally invented in Japan over 10 years ago, picture-forming logic puzzles also known as Japanese Puzzles, Paint by Numbers, Nonograms and Griddlers are now making headway into Europe and the USA. Repeating the huge success in Japan, these puzzles are now published in the USA and in several European countries with excellent success.
Taking the Netherlands as one example, our local partner Sanoma Uitgevers is selling over 25,000 magazines on a bi-monthly basis. We estimate that over 3000 new puzzles are created each year in Japan alone, and which are published in more than 6 magazines dedicated to this puzzle genre.
