Monday, December 1, 2003 Color Tsunami

WHSmith and Puzzler Media Ltd. published a special edition of Color Tsunami magazine, targeted particularly for this year’s Christmas market. The one-off magazine is available exclusively from WHSmith stores in the UK since November 27.

The attractive 170mm x 240 mm spiral-bound magazine has a book-like appearance and contains 90 Tsunami puzzles in color. The magazine also offers a wide range of puzzle sizes in a variety of difficulty levels, from 2-colour to multi-color, in sizes from 15x15 up to 30x35. In addition, Color Tsunami is packaged with a free 12-colour pencil set, so puzzle fans can start solving the puzzles right away. Also included is an eight-page section of Enigma (Link-a-Pix) puzzles.

According to Trevor Truran, editor of Tsunami, Tsuper Tsunami, and Enigma logic-puzzle magazines, Color Tsunami is priced at £6.95 and is not available for worldwide subscriptions. "It is especially pleasing," he says "that Puzzler Media Ltd, through its links with a renowned retail chain is leading the way in offering these quality picture-forming logic puzzles to the British public."

Color Tsunami is Puzzler Media’s fourth magazine dedicated to Conceptis puzzles. Previous magazines, in the order of their appearance, are Tsunami, Tsuper Tsunami and Enigma.

Tsunami magazine, now in its 38th issue, has been published in the UK each month for over three years. In August 2002, following its success and the market’s requirement for more and for larger puzzles, WHSmith retail outlets and Puzzler Media Ltd. (BEAP publishing at the time) announced the publication of a new quarterly, large-format magazine dedicated to Conceptis' puzzles. Titled Tsuper Tsunami, this 48-page WHSmith own-brand contains more than 40 puzzles with grid sizes larger than those found in Tsunami magazine. Within less than one year Tsuper Tsunami earned its own success, becoming another popular magazine within the company’s logic puzzles publications. As a result, from November 2003, Tsuper Tsunami became a regular bi-monthly publication.
