Logic puzzle creation is a special art. There are two approaches: use software to generate them automatically, or construct them by hand using graph paper and a pencil. I can't help you with the software option, but I've made a whole variety of logic puzzles by hand, including Skyscrapers, sudoku variants, and various others. Most puzzles can be created by first creating a solution, then working backward from the solution. So imagine you have your Battleships solution. Now take a blank grid. Use your Battleships skills to identify one to three key squares, and fill them into the grid, then check to see if it's solveable. You may find that just one or two more squares is needed to make it solveable. Don't forget to make sure you have the ships dense enough on the grid. If there are too few ships for the grid size, you'll need more clues. Good luck.
