Hi All

Hashi Interactive puzzles are now working on the website. You are welcome to play and enjoy, and if you have any problems or comments then please post on this forum. By the way, there is a nice feature in the preferences which highlights available bridges. Some of you will love it and some of you will hate it:)

Thanks, Dave

Hi! That's great! I've just discovered it and it is so great!!!
I was surprised, because I understood that slitherlink would be the next one...but that is the kind of surprises I love! (and I guess slitherlink is going to be here soon!  :)  )
I saw that feature- not only you can see which bridges there are possible, if you click on a number you can see also which islands are joined together. I think it is very good for the learning process and I'm going to introduce this new type of puzzle to my son and see how he reacts- maybe it is difficult but i'll try with all the features on (also "tell me if there are mistakes") and then I'll report to you...
Thanks! Shiron [:)][:)][:)]

Great news!  I like the possble bridge highlight.  Looks like it may be helpful for the novice, like me.

One problem though.  How do you draw the bridges?  There's no online help yet and I couldn't figure it out.

Patti

shiron -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/22/2008 3:23:22 PM)

Patti- when you are on the number and see the possible bridges, just go to the bridge in grey and left click on the mouse once-you'll see the black line( the bridge), do it again-two bridges, and again-they dissapear

I thought slitherlink was coming next but I see battleships are online too- did I miss it before???or are we full of surprises today?! Wow! Now I have two puzzles for my kids (the easy ones at least)
THANKS!!!!!!

lekahe -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/22/2008 4:06:39 PM)

Battleships came yesterday, Hashis this morning before the update.

It becomes even harder to try to finish all puzzles in one week [:D]

Thanks Shiron,

I was trying to click on the islands.  It never entered my mind to click between the islands.  Must have been too early in the morning for me and not enough coffee.  [:D]

YES YES YES...........

more puzzles to play online!!!

Allthough I have a bit trouble finding out how to play Hashi (i understand the goal, but i have to find the logic) , i think it is great! At the moment i have only finished the easy hashi, but i will keep on learning!!

The battleships are online also:  GREAT THANKS!!!!!

Hope to see more puzzles online

GhettoJoe -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/23/2008 11:38:05 PM)

And here I was thinking we were going to have to wait for a month or two for Hashi online...  I'm so happy right now, I'm almost speechless...  Thank you very much, Mr. President and everyone else at Conceptis Puzzles, for your hard work and dedication to giving us the best of the best in the world of logic puzzles!! [:D]  I would have to say, my favorite thing (next to just having Yubotu and Hashi online) is being able to highlight a chain of islands to see where the ends are at...  I have a hard time following the chains when I get near the end of the bigger puzzles, and I tend to end at a spot which splits the puzzle in half one way and connects it the other...  Until next time...

For those just starting out with Hashi, I would recommend
www.indigopuzzles.com
as this site has some easier puzzles and also has a great advice button. The advice button highlights an available move and explains the reasoning for it. This site has enabled me to greatly improve my ability in both Hashi and Hitori.

Good luck,
Denise

Trycotyne -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/24/2008 8:44:27 AM)

thanks a lot for the online battleships, I love them !!!!!
I'm pretty new to Hashi, so I'll have to enhance my skills....

shiron -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/24/2008 3:38:35 PM)

I thought a nice optional feature  for Hashi (at least for those of us that are learning ) would  be to be able to see each group of islands that are joined together in  a different colour and whenever two of these groups merge they get one colour...so at the end you have to get only one colour in the solution. I don't know if it is difficult to program such a feature, but if it is not I'd love to use it!

lekahe -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/24/2008 5:38:58 PM)

Shiron,
if you click on one island in a chain, you get all the joined islands visible. I think for learners the "show errors" should be enough in the beginning...

Just a question on:  Preferences - Highlight allowed bridge directions.

Look at this week's medium puzzle 11090100159.  Go to the 2-island at the bottom of the rightmost column.  It highlights 2 possible bridge directions as it should.  Draw the bridge going left to the 1-island, (which happens to be the only possible direction off that 1-island).   An X is drawn over the 1-island.  Now return to the 2-island and you still get 2 possible directions for the second bridge.

My question is, shouldn't only one possible bridge be highlighted at this point, leading up to the 3-bridge, as a bridge to the 1-island is no longer allowed?

shiron -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/24/2008 8:42:53 PM)

Leena, hi. I'm not "attacking" what there is now...I'm giving an idea I think would make the game more colourful, funnier and easier, especially when you "jump" to harder puzzles. I know for sure that I would enjoy such a feature. (I know you can see which islands are joined by clicking one of them, but what I'm suggesting is totally different: is seing the whole picture at once in a colourful way). I know I'm "childrens' puzzles oriented" but I think that would make a good step for making it easier visualizing the problem in a better way.  At least this is my vision.
Shiron.

Another idea I had today as I got stucked (I'm trying to solve a hard one for the first time) was: could it be possible to give a "hint" - not the answer but something like " look at THIS island and think..." (by making an island flash or colouring it or pointing to it any other way) so that you can go on solving whenever you get stuck-that is another beautiful way to learn in my opinion.
Thanks, Shiron

shiron -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/24/2008 8:46:03 PM)

Patti- I understand what you say, but I think the idea is only helping with the directions that can bring to another island (say instead of using a ruler to see if the islands are in the same row...)an not truly if there are 1 or 2 bridges allowed.

tcatwills -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/25/2008 2:16:41 PM)

How do can you make bridges? I can get the highlighted possible but I can't figure out the key to mark it. The helps do not help in playing online.

Talihoe -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/25/2008 3:16:00 PM)

tcatwills

See shiron's answer to this question above.  It's the fourth message down from the top of the page.

tcatwills -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/26/2008 2:41:36 AM)

Thanks for the information but it does not work. Any other ideas?

sharonella -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/30/2008 7:47:48 PM)

To make bridges - put your mouse over one of the numbers to get the possible bridges (in gray) - THEN, gently move your mouse slightly to the bridge you want to make (& you will only see one possible gray bridge, now) - Then left click to make the bridge.  Once you get used to how to make the bridges - you will b e able to do them faster than it sounds in this description.

Once you have a single bridge between two numbers, you can left click it again to add a 2nd bridge, or click it a 3rd time to remove the bridges.

Hope this is a little clearer!

shiron -> RE: Hashi Interactive Now Available (8/31/2008 9:26:06 PM)

Me again with another idea...
Would it be possible to add the possibility of drawing a dotted line for "possible bridge" so that you can check an assumption?
When I solve Hashi on paper that is what I do: I draw a dotted line and try to understand what the impact would be, if I get an impossible situation then I learn the first bridge is not ok and that way I get more information. It is difficult to do it all in your head especially when it involves many bridges until you get the contradiction...I think it could help a lot.
Thanks, Shiron
