My next challengeMonday, September 30, 2002
I have enjoyed solving jigsaw puzzles for as long as I can remember - the larger the puzzle the better. My next challenge, for example, has 13000 pieces and only concern is finding a large enough workspace.
I discovered Paint by Numbers 7 or so years ago and was hooked. Teaching high school math in Northwestern Ontario, Canada for the last 12 years has given me the opportunity to pass on my hobby. I've assigned puzzles to my students over the years to improve their problem solving skills. Much to my delight students have requested more puzzles even when I no longer teach them.
A few words about my Paint by Numbers history:
The sizes (up to 50 x 50) published in various magazines were no longer a challenge. Much to my delight I found a large puzzle on a magazine cover. This fueled an internet search for more large puzzles which resulted in my finding Conceptis. Needless to say I was ecstatic when I was given the opportunity to solve MegaPuzzles and MegaPuzzles in color.
My classroom is adorned with The Holy Family, The Laughing Cavalier, and Napoleon at St. Bernard just to name a few. I'm looking forward to adding my own portrait to the gallery! ...now it's time to solve MY puzzle so it's ready for school :)
