At the bottom of the reply window is a link "Click here to upload" and "Embed picture in post." Check the box to embed the picture.

Look at your red box. The middle 6 of the top row has five squares and needs one more. The only two possibilities for that square are the two unsolved squares below it. Therefore, you know one will be blank and one will be filled; you just don't know which is which yet. The next 6 to the right has five squares and needs one more, but you now know that there will be a filled square below the middle 6. Therefore, the square I marked with a grey X must be blank.

I marked two more areas with green squares. Look at the right-most one again and you should be able to fill in two of the squares for 4 in the middle.

The green square on the left edge has several clues that can be solved. Look at it again. Oftentimes people just need a hint where to look and they can find the solution.

If you still need help, post an updated screen shot.

Charlene

I have been working my way through the problems in this discussion... super helpful! Thanks. But I'm still not getting the hang of these. Here's where I'm currently stuck: I just can't see anywhere in the puzzle where there's enough info to definitively fill in anything else. Can someone help?

I finally found the next step. In case anyone wants to know, here it is.

Look at the red square. In the upper right corner there's a 4, and under that a 3. Those two share 6 squares. That means the 3 squares above the 4 have to contain one more than the the squares below the 3, because 4-3=1. In other words, the only place the 4 can get an additional square compared to the 3 is in the zone above it.

But since it has only one square available (to other 2 above the 4 are marked empty already), we know that square must be filled in and all the under the 3 must be marked empty.

Thanks again to Charlene for the clear, step-by-step instructions for us newbies.
