Hi Gil, The bulk of the puzzles in my folder on esnips were originally freely obtained from either thr public folders of several senior or advanced forum participants or from folders that were supposedly private but invitations were freely sent to whovever asked for them without any discrimination whatsoever. In light of the fact that that has been going on for YEARS before I entered the pictue on forums hosted by your own website I feel I had every right to assume that this practice had the blessing and was sanctioned by Conceptis. All I have done basically is copleted and, in my view, improved some of those conversions and stating clearly that the original conversions were not my own work. My basic work was in organizing these collections cohesively and facilitating easier location of these puzzles by a cross-reference system via the use of text files. When I started doing this I seem to have run in to two conflicting ccomplaints about what I was doing. One senior participant was upset about my giving them credit for the conversions. Another one complained about my NOT giving him credit for his work. This latter one is the one who has been doing all the complaining and trying to ostracize me to the best of his ability. His accusations are totally and provably absurd and untrue. I even sent him an email requesting that he either give a phone number where I could reach him or that he call me at a Toll-free number (that worked in Canada too the last time I was there). His response was "Nah, Why would I want to do that" or something to that effect. If anybody would like to see them I have copies of all the email correspondence at the time and would gladly male it available upon request. As to the issue currently at hand I applaud your intention of laying down a new set of rules governing the uploading the collections and have every intention of abiding by these rules as long as they are the same for one and all. By the way I sent you an email two weeks ago and never recieved a reply. I also posted a contact request last week on your Conceptis forum and this was also ignored. Last week Thusday I spent some time on the phone with Dave regarding these issues and the meeting you have just had is probably a result of that call. I would very much like to speak to you too about this and would appreciate it if you could let me have your direct telephone number as Dave did with his. Wishing you success with this endeavor. Isaac K

Dear Isaac, I was certainly not complaining about how you collected your private collection :) I know this thing has been going on for years and my post was indeed in reply to yours but just because it was the last one relevant for the subject. It was certainly addressed to everyone on this forum - so if it sounded like a personal matter I apologize. Din;t mean that at all. All I am asking at this point is for everyone to remove their own LINKS from the forum posts in case they point a collection of the type i described. If you feel uncomfortable being the first to do so then its fine. We can all wait for the new rules. Regarding contacting me: I am not much of a good verbal communicator so if that would be all right with you I prefer communating in writing via forum or email. I also find it much more efficient when I have time to think about what I say rather than just "shoot it out" the way we all do when we speak. Anyway, I presume your message must have been spammed somehow as I didn't have your email address in my address book. This happens sometimes because I get about 300 spam messages every day so unfortunately I can not go over them manually in case some "good" message got trapped. Sorry for that. If you still want to contact me please try emailing me again, add your email address to your profile or just post it here in a dummy format and I will contact you. Now I got to attend a few important issues regarding C3... :) thanks! ~Gil~

Isaac, of course the rules are same for everybody. I cleaned my eSnips over the weekend and the remaining folders contain only puzzles which do not have problems with copyright. All my eSnips are now either public or pictures shared with the family. My archives and the Weekly Picpuz -folder have always contained only free weekly puzzles or reviews. I also removed all files I had uploaded to other members' folders excluding the puzzle convertions I did with my son's program (It works only with pdf's from Conceptis) and the converted reviews. I also started editing my posts on the forums but since the result is very old posts shifting to the top of the thread, I'll do most of it later. Correction to your post: eSnips has been used 1,5 years at this moment, not YEARS. Also the phone call to Dave caused nothing. This has been under development since I became a moderator. Leena

I have just come home after spending the last ten days in the hospital for a heart procedure. I expect to bring my cross references up to date by this weekend. Happy Solving! Isaac

Sorry to hear about your hospital trip. But please remember that puzzles whose copyright is protected (i.e. publisher puzzles) need to come out of the collections. This goes for all of us, so your collection will need to be shrunk. Cyclone

Oh, what the *bleep* - I've always been good at throwing gasoline on the fire. And no one's yelled at me for a while, so.... As to copyright issues for member's own websites, I can remember this issue coming up a long time ago, and Conceptis decided, for it's own reasons, to tolerate the redistribution of free, demo, etc. type puzzles that members were sharing. It was never implied or explicitly stated that ALL sharing was acceptable, and I don't believe anyone here would have assumed that had they read all the past posts. I do NOT think Conceptis is out of line today, at all, with asking members to update/correct/remove any links to such material, so as to avoid the taint of complicity in any way. It does not sound, to me, like they are trying to make any of us change what we may do, short of selling the puzzles ourselves, or to 'control' everything said about their magnificent puzzles. What each individual decides to do with their own webspaces & files is their decision. Just don't broadcast it here, okay??? And please, can we let the 'fight' go? We're all adults here, and could we all please stop overreacting & over-analyzing every word spoken or written? Or perhaps we could start a new forum category 'miscellaneous rantings of lawyer-wannabes' & the rest of us could just ignore it. This is not directed to the legitimate discussion of these issues, let's just please stop the petty bickering & pot shots at each other. Thank you --cocoa

Cocoa, I think this will end when the new rules for the forums, Conceptis Copyright Policy will be published. Dave is travelling again, but when he will be home, we will have new rules and the forums shall be cleaned. This has to be done before the forums are transferred to the new website. Conceptis accepts only sharing of the puzzles from the website and also they really have had no time to read all the posts. I think very few people can even imagine how much work they have to do for the new website and all this work is additional to their "normal" work, creating and selling the puzzles. Leena

Thanks Leena. I personally have no problem with anything Conceptis is asking, and, having just spent 3 months writing a thesis I thought would be a piece of cake, I totally understand that there is just way too much going on. I'm just frustrated with the petty bickering he said/she said stuff & would like to see that stop. It's frustrating to click a topic & find something like that. --cocoa

cocoa, I did not mean to start a fight here. I was just lightly reminding him as I still see such puzzles in a couple of the files, that's all. Of course, the Nelepets files were actually in the weeklies and are no doubt permitted. As well as individual puzzles from the reviews. But not the magazine sets. Cyclone

I have just added the pdf for the new MegaPAP 0005106 Seurat (65 x 150) to my cumulative Conceptis - Pic-a-Pix file. If no one else converts it to PicPuz I will attempt to do it this weekend. Happy Solving! Isaac

The text file 'Cross-reference' includes the free weekly puzzles from the beginning of July. If any other members would like this information for earlier puzzles please request it in this forum and I will attempt to build it backwards by using Leena's monthly archives and sorting it by date modified. Happy Solving! Isaac

Hello Isaac, I have stumbled across a number of errors in your 0005106 PicPuz conversion: Column 33 contains the sequence "4, 2" which should be "2, 1", Column 120 contains an extra "1", Column 130 is missing a "1", Row 3 starts with a "1" instead of a "12", Row 9 contains a "1" which should be a "2", Row 25 contains an additional "4", Row 48 contains a "2" which should be a "3", Row 50 contains a "6" which should be a "4", while Row 57 is completely messed up, having copied much of Row 58, and now bears little resemblance to the original! Hello Isaac, The error in Column 120 that I had noted (one "1" too many) does not appear to have been corrected..... I'm cautiously confident that with this one change incorporated the PicPuz conversion will be correct; even so I suspect PAP Solver will be hard pressed to run this puzzle to a conclusion. Bob
