Hi Liduin

The message you are referring to does not refer to the file you are are trying to download but another file that esnips sends with IN Addition to your desired file. The file I am referring to is usallly MSN..downloadhoast or something like it.

I have also been receiving this message lately whenever I download anything from a lot of websites. What I have been doing is simply clicking the X on the top right of the dialogue box to close it and get rid of it. The download that I am looking for continues to come through without any problem.

If you continue to have problems let me know and I will try to help you further.

I don't know what kind of telephone plans you have in The Netherlands but if you want my telephone number here in New York it is 718-265-4700. If you do indeed want to call me I recommend that you email me dirctly first and I will respond with an email telling you when I shall definitely be at my computer. You should then get on the internet yourself and start your download procedures and then call me. I believe we should be able to work this through in a couple of minutes or so.

Please be advised that since I observe the Holy day of Sabbath and am not available for phone calls or internet during the period from sunset on Friday through 90 minutes after sunset Saturday.

Hoping that this is of assistance to you and wishing you a good weekend.

Isaac

I have noticed from recent posts to this forum that some members have been looking for solution files for both Dot-a-Pix and Maze-a-Pix puzzles. At the same time I have also noticed that other members have created a lot of these solutions by using the combination of a screen capture program and Microsoft Paint.

I myself am spending all my free time in converting puzzles to PicPuz for inclusion with my collection. I would however be glad to include the requested solution files in my collections if any other member would be kind enough to email them to me. The only thing I would require is the Conceptis puzzle number for each solution.

I would appreciate it if anyone takes me up on this offer that they notify me what their desire is about being given credit for their work so that I can comply with their wishes.

On another note my weekly Conceptis - Pic-a-pix cumulative file will be late this week since I rely on another member for puzzle titles and PicPuz conversions and this member is currently taking a well-deserved vacation.

Also on this subject I have noticed that several members seem to be upset about the delay in another member's weekly combined pdf file.
I would like to point out that most of those posting free puzzles on esnips are in the teaching profession (which explains their desire to spread meaningful knowledge among other people) and are currently either taking well-earned breaks or busy preparing for the next academic year. Please have respect for these members' management of their own time and be assured that as soon as they feel able to they will continue to post whatever time will allow them to.

Wishing you all a good weekend and as usual Happy Solving!

Isaac

Thanks Isaac for all your effort.
last time I try to download one of your esnip files with my house computer I was unable to do so, but in my computer office I have no problem at all.
I don't know the reason but i hope this information could be useful for others.

Hi rosa,

A few months ago you said you would send me some magazines. Did you ever send me anything? As I said then they can be used ones too and I would gladly reimburse you for the postage.

About the downloading issue I am afraid the problems might be caused by viruses or spyware which is probably why those computers that have better protection software, usually those at work, have less problems.

Wishing you a good weekend

Isaac

I am finalizing one or two puzzles in my old magazines. As soon as I send anything I let you know so to be sure you receive them.
I haven't forgotten.

A new file for Text files.zip has just been uploaded to esnips.

Please note that there has been a major reworking of the tabular files, probably the lest one before I move all of them to a database program.

There are 3 new additions to the cross-reference file. I have begun to include the Easter eggs, the free weekly puzzles and the weekly review puzzle. This should take care of the requests by members for a previous week's puzzles due to not being at home or a computer breakdown.

If any member needs an up-to-date file before I decide to upload one all they need to do is post a request in this forum and I will try to upload whatever I have immediately.

Happy Solving!

Isaac

A new file for Text files.zip has just been uploaded to esnips. The cross-reference table now includes the weekly review puzzles back to the beginning of 2004 and this week's free weekly puzzles. Please note that (R) following the puzzle number indicates that this is not a new puzzle but the re-issue of an old one. The Easter eggs will take me some time as I need to track down the original puzzle NUMBER rather than just the name. If anyone has this information and would be prepared to share it with other members it would be greatly appreciated if it could be emailed to me so that I can add it to the table.

Happy Solving!

Do I understand correctly that somebody is converting and then publishing on esnips puzzles that were originally published in magazines? I hope that I am mistaken. Would someone from Conceptis please commment on the legality of this practice?

Hi Polly,

I have brought the issue up with Dave and the next is quoted from his e-mail to me:
"I believe in the value of freedom and letting people decide by themselves what they should and shouldn't do. It will not help us to restrict other people because if they really want they will find other ways of doing it. I am sure the quality of our new games will be such that enough members will be happy to pay, and those who don't (or can't) will use the free stuff. So, although I can't say I'm happy about it, I don't think there is a need to interfere with the natural evolution:)"

GreatGram, in addition to this, I have myself converted puzzles for personal use. Some of these ended up in a private folder only for Conceptis members, and they made it into the public folders by way of Isaac (this sparked the first real fight we had on the forums months ago). This has been quelled, though I am sure the log of this fight can be found if you look for it.

My quote, which Leena brought up above, was in reference to Conceptis free puzzles which are provided on our website. Since we own the copyrights, we can be flexible and live with this situation.

However, providing masses of puzzles from magazines or other websites, whether by conversion, image or in any other form, is a whole different story. This is a direct violation of our publishers copyrights and hence illegal. In fact, our contract with all our publishers has a paragraph saying: "Neither party shall make these puzzles available online for playing or downloading." So if anyone is providing access via this website to Conceptis puzzles which have been copied from magazines, we might get into trouble with our own publishers.

So, in case anyone has done anything wrong, I am sure they will fix it very soon:)

Thanks, Dave Green

Dave's reply here cites my worries about the puzzles I provided to a few Conceptis members being made public. Whether Isaac has removed these puzzles from his folders, I do not know...but I trust that he will pay heed to your reply here, Dave. (If they are already removed, then no issues!)

Meanwhile, I hope that putting the puzzles into PicPuz for my own purposes (not shared) is still all right? After all, they are not publically shared...and if I do share them, it's with the person who sends me the publication to begin with. What they do after that is beyond my control.

Hi. I am not sure if all of you red Dave's post above but we had some discussions about this matter over here during the weekend and just to make sure there is no misunderstanding I would like to use this opportunity and ask everyone:

if you have any copyrighted puzzles of publishers or other websites on your eSnips, please remove them immediately and confirm doing so. this is VERY important.

If for some reason you don't wish to confirm in the forum please feel free to email me personally [gilg at conceptispuzzles.com]

Regarding puzzles which were originally published on our site: I plan to publish new rules on the forum soon. In the meantime please feel free to treat them as you see right.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

~Gil~
