These pencils are the best! Picked up a pack of 20 colors today at Walmart for around $5.50 (they also come in packs of 10). Each pencil has an eraser attached, and the 20 pack comes with an extra eraser and a sharpener. They erase very cleanly. You can also buy them at crayola.com. [sm=icon_smile_approve.gif]

They have 20 packs now? Wow - I have the 10 pack, and sometimes the color selection just isn't enough when doing the color puzzles; I'll have to go round to Wal Mart & check for the bigger pack. I, too love these pencils, as they erase cleanly, without tearing up the paper. My only grip with them is it would be nice if they colored a bit darker, but I'd rather have the option of erasing my mistakes (I tend to make a lot of them). [:)]

I've had problems with these in the past, but maybe they changed their formula. I found that after erasing, it was difficult to re-color over the erased spot. Almost like a waxy reside was left on the paper. Are you observing this?

Susie, haven't really noticed that yet... and I've done a fair amount of erasing so far. But I did have a problem with one square where I just wanted to put a dot in a spot that had been erased... I had just thought the problem was with the clipboard beneath the paper because it was only that square.

Can I just point out a topic that I started in the puzzle room forum, which may be of interest....

I noticed it myself which is why I stopped using them. It's like the eraser itself leaves something behind that makes it impossible to re-color over the erased spot, like some kind of resist. It was quite irritating when I couldn't go back over it after I had corrected a mistake. This is why I didn't keep them.

I've found using a Clic-Eraser or similar works much better with these pencils rather than the ones on the pencils - actually, I don't use pencil end erasers at all for much of anything - I'm hooked on the white ones!

Absolutely the best - those Pentel ClicErasers. I use ordinary colored pencils and they erase perfectly with these erasers. You know how your hand smears over filled-in sections of puzzles? It's easy to cleanly erase the unfilled smeary areas (is "smeary" a word [sm=icon_smile_question.gif]).

arlesh -> RE: Crayola Erasable Color Pencils (4/26/2005 5:44:46 PM)

I use 'smeary' all the time... but then again, some people claim I talk funny. [:D]
