I've been solving puzzles from the archives. This one is listed as advanced logic and very easy, but I've gotten stuck. Suggestion for next move, please?

Thanks,
--Charlene

A guess the corollary question is: how do you embed the image in the post rather than attach it?

I can help you with image embedding question, Charlene :)

In the post edit or create window there is a line named "File" where you select "Click here to upload!" to browse for your attachment file. If you check the "Embed picture in post" option, the image should show inside the post body (rather than as a linked attachment).

That's the procedure I used and it added the image as an attachment. :-/

Oh :)

Seems to be working for me so i'm not quite sure why. We'll try looking into this. Thanks for the heads-up!

The answer is with the "6" in the 6th column from the right and the 8th row from the top.

Thanks, Dave

The square at the 6th column from the right and the 8th row from the top is blank; there are several 6s in the area, so I'm not sure which one you're pointing out.

Thanks,

I'm pointing out to this blank one. If you take a careful look you will see it creates constraints on the 6 to its right, which leads to filling a square somewhere. I don't want to spoil more right now.

Thanks, Dave

Perhaps it will be easier to explain this way: The "6" in the 5th column from the right (in the same row) is missing 3 squares. Take a careful look how one of them must be placed.

Thanks, Dave

Phooey! I counted the 6 / 8 several times and kept coming up in a blank square; this time I see the one you're referring to.

I know that either the square you referenced or the square below it has to be solid because of the "6" to the right, but I'm not seeing how to deduce which one gets the solid.

Thanks for trying to help. I understand that the 6 is missing three squares and that one of the two 6s on the left will be solid, but I have no idea why the two moves you gave are valid. (Nor do I have any idea how to mark up a screen shot to make explaining any easier.)
