I'm wondering how conceptis decides on the rating of very easy vs medium plus as I generally find the medium plus pic-a-pix puzzles to be much easier then the very easy ones. For example in this weeks free pic-a-pix puzzle as usual I get the major lines hammered out then I'm left with 80% of the puzzle with clues of 1's and 2's and so many spaces inbetween that I just can't figure out the solution. I just can't see how they can rate it very easy. Well off to read the strategy again and see if there is something I've missed.

Column 12 you can fill in most of the 6 on top.

Thanks for the quick pointer but it still doesn't answer my question about this being a very easy puzzle. we all miss stuff from time to time but this is supposed to be a very easy puzzle there should be 20 different things jumping out at me and I should be able to complete it without much thought in under 10min.

Here are a couple more things that should lead to further progress:

Just above the dots in row 8, the blocks in columns 13 and 14 must be at least 2 high, which moves the "6" in row 6 to the left and puts 3 dots on the right end of that row.

In row 12, the 2-block in columns 13 & 14 cannot be part of the "4" (too far from the block in column 17) so they must be part of the "5" -- that forces the "4" into columns 18 & 19 and the "5" into columns 11 & 12.

When I do the easier and smaller PaP puzzles I sometimes run into trouble by thinking of them a easy, doing them too quickly and missing too many details. Although the difficulty ratings sometimes seem off to me, too, it's usually the case that I'm the one who's "off." :-)

Thanks I spotted all those after the pointer about column 12. When I see a very easy puzzle I want something to give me a quick distraction from my work for 5-15min so I can refocus and get working again these very easy puzzle are deceptive and I've not spent over 3h on this one when I only wanted a quick distraction.

I'm pretty sure that they are ranked according to the number of rows and columns. And I agree, some of the 10x10's "ultra easy" are harder than the bigger puzzles.
