Are you a Sudoku Virtuoso? Compete with Russia's Sudoku champion and find out.Monday, July 20, 2009
Think you are really good at Sudoku? Are you fast enough to duel with the champions? Now you can find out by competing with Riad Khanmagomedov, Russia’s national Sudoku champion. You don’t need airline tickets or a passport, but you will need a pencil, a clock, and a copy of Sudoku Duel recently launched by Logos Media. Or, if you can’t get hold of a copy, there’s a sample below you can try right now.
Created for "real Sudoku virtuosos who are ready to fly high to new records", Sudoku Duel introduces a new and innovative concept where real solving time records by the Russian Sudoku champion are shown alongside 12 of the 71 available puzzles. Now it’s your turn to try and match those records.
7:50 minutes... Can you beat it?
The new concept also helps solvers track their own progress and compete against friends. In addition to the 12 puzzles solved and timed by Khanmagomedov, all other puzzles contain approximate solving times recommended by the editor. Sudoku Duel also contains original Sudoku variants invented and created by the master himself, and are included in each issue of the magazine.
Beat the champion
At the top of this page you can see a typical puzzle, accompanied with three empty boxes to enter the starting time, finishing time, and the overall time it took you to solve the puzzle. This puzzle also includes Riad Khanmagomedov’s solving time which in this case is 7:50 minutes and a photo of the Russian Sudoku champion just to make sure you don’t forget against whom you are playing. Below is the same puzzle which you can solve online or print and solve on paper.
