I wasn't really seeing the slowness issue until this morning.  It took me about 10 minutes to get to a puzzle.  Even trying to navigate around in the forums is excruciatingly slow.  Someone needs to get on this ASAP.  If I'm going to pay for these puzzles, I expect better, not worse, service.

I'm having the same problems.

I also can't see the PAP puzzles right now.  I've tried multiple times and cleared my cache but I still get the printed words only.  The space where the puzzles belong is blank, which means I can't order any.  This displeases me.

I, too, am having the same problems. The puzzle thumbnails don't show up at all. And since the the thumbnails are the links, I can't open any puzzles (why aren't the links the text underneath -- which give the name and number of the puzzle???). I don't know why you didn't work these kinks out in your beta test. Perhaps you didn't test long enough.

But, I agree. People are now paying you to solve these puzzles. If you don't provide better service, you are basically stealing from your customers. Not Good.

Ditto that. Long, long wait for every individual transaction is not what a pay site should offer. Please get this fixed soon.

Ditto again. It's been ridiculously slow today. I hope it improves very soon.

Solved status didn't come up on a couple of the battleships that I did today either.

bluefly has hit the nail on the head; your beta testing was neither long enough nor detailed enough.  Beta-testing almost never is, which is another reason why I no longer work in the computer industry; everyone is in a rush to Git-R-Done, rather than Git-R-Right   It got old being blamed for problems that we didn't have time enough to discover, let alone fix.

In any event, it is obvious that either your servers do not have the capacity to handle the service calls, or else the programming is trying to do too many things at once, and the processors cannot handle the load.  If this were my site, I would shut it down, post a single page explaining the issues and asking for forgiveness and patience, and also asking for more volunteers for a gamma test, i.e. what the beta test should have been.  Good beta-testing should run for weeks, with the testers being asked to try anything and everything they can think of to break the system, to make it crash, so that any hidden bugs can be discovered.  You won't find them all, no matter how hard you try, but you'll find most of them, which is the point.

Good luck, David!  You and your cohort will need it.

i hope your site do not run on a single server. this is what i think, when even the forum is not reachable.
install some more server, use a load-balancer and move the forum on an independent server.
any of my informatik-students can tell you this.

if you want me to pay for being on this site, then make it reachable 24/7.

I agree with the above posters

I had no qualms about paying for the puzzles as used the site all the time. However, since it has become a paying site it has gone totally downhill and slooooow, and now I feel that I have been ripped off. Not happy

This needs sorting or you will lose a customer who was happy to pay every week

Add my voice to the dissatisfied customers - completely unacceptable!! Too slow, and when the page finally loads, no thumbnails, so totally useless. It's frustrating and annoying - compounded by having PAID for the privilege. I was already getting annoyed at the site's illogical layout (clicking on B&W puzzles, for example, doesn't bring you to a page where you can buy any B&W puzzles). Now I'm steaming. And I'm not usually the steaming kinda guy.

I don't think the site needs to be shut down. i haven't had a single technical problem. But the slowness is infuriating to the point that you are going to lose customers.

If it was just the fact that the site was slow I wouldn't mind quite so much, but it is actually completely unusable. I cannot load a single puzzle. I was one of the people who were prepared to give paying for the puzzles a go, but that's all pointless if the puzzles are inaccessible. Get it fixed before you lose customers.

Roughly 20 minutes after clicking on the bookmark I have yet to see a puzzle and read a few notes on this forum in superslow motion.  I appreciate that conceptis is trying something new but at a certain point they ought to make the puzzles free again (kill off the points system) until they can do it properly.

I'm just adding my voice to the masses... So far I'm still on free credits (thanks for those by the way! I only love a few puzzle types, so these will last me for a while I hope :-)), but the previous version ran much much smoother...

I also agree with the premise that the Flash hyperlinks are very user-unfriendly. I know they add to the experience, but they obviously detract too much from usability if they are sooooo slow to load when the whole site is slow.

At least, if you used HTML links, you could click and already start on loading the next page without having to wait for the Flash icons or refresh (and start all over again) for them to load...

Well, just some thoughts! Good luck on solving this, which I have every confidence you'll manage!

Well, sometimes the squeaky wheel does get the grease   I just checked in after taking most of the rest of the day off from the computer, and things are running a lot faster, now. Still no explanation, nor even a response to all the complaints, but I guess it doesn't matter if the site is going to run the way it should

Well, as others have mentioned before, there are paid users on this site. So if there was a server problem, I feel that someone at Conceptis owes everyone an explanation.

Hi All

A full explanation will be published in a soon to come newsletter. In the mean while we'd like everyone to know that some major problems have been fixed last night and that our team are continuing to work round the clock fixing the rest. We expect website performance in one or two weeks will be as good as it was before moving to the paid website, although there still might be some slowdown next Friday.

Once we get over the technical and server performance issues we will start adding some new and exciting features.

Please let me use this opportunity to thank all of you for your patience and support, and extend special thanks to the overwhelming number of paying members - something which we didn't expect to happen in such a short time.

Thanks again, Dave
