Patti,

http://www.fileinfo.net/extension/email

has some info about those files. Maybe you succeed, I did not even though I have Outlook (not as my primaty e-mail program)

A new cumulative file, which includes today's new puzzles, has just been uploaded for Conceptis - Sudoku.

Now that I am maintaining a file for each type of Conceptis number logic puzzle I have deleted the original combined file.

If possible I will try to update all my files at least once a week. If however in the future any member requests a specific file update either in this forum or by direct email and I have the time to do so I will gladly upload the requested file with whatever I have available at that time.

Wishing you a good weekend and as always Happy Solving.

Patti,

Give the files a new extention --> .htm
Now you can open them with your internet explorer. The first few lines are a mess, but below that there is the brainteaser

The brainteaser is not IN the email message.
You only get a valid link to the site.

I like to know that there are new files in your esnip folder.
Since you have time and like it, perhaps you could work in something that there is no in any esnip folder.
I am not sure but I am thinking to have in picpuc the easter eggs, the very old review puzzle, the Conceptis samples.
Perhaps other members can confirm this or to think about other puzzles that they stil are no converted in Picpuc.
Thanks to all the people that update esnip files for all of us.

Rosa,
The Easter eggs for PicPuz are in Tina's folder
http://www.esnips.com/web/EasterEggsforPicPuz
and the old reviews in mine (as far as I know them)
http://www.esnips.com/doc/c98e0b22-4b99-4773-b955-3c9eb51e8ced/2003_review_PicPuz.zip
http://www.esnips.com/doc/d9481f6f-f781-4364-a8f0-8452d1c4bb31/2004_review_PicPuz.zip
http://www.esnips.com/doc/39d2fcb7-714a-4930-b3ed-96a8b663eb7a/2005_review_PicPuz.zip

Maybe you have not found those because they are at the end of the PuzzleArchive. They can be seen if in the row below my photo which says Posts.... you choose "show all posts" and browse yourself to the last post. I think I should split the puzzlearchive in two pieces

No offense to Isaac or anything, but Leena's folder is better organized...though the cumulative file will come in handy since I want to move all the puzzles to my laptop NEway...so I'll use Leena's folder for a set of puzzles, and Isaac's when I have a new computer to outfit.

how do I view the Page-A-Day-Brainteasers?

Thanks to all who responded. For everyone's benefit here's what I found:

Isaac, I don't have email set up on the laptop that I use for puzzles. When I double click on the file it goes into a loop asking if I want to Open or Save the file, if I click on Open it repeats the message. On my desktop computer I have Outlook Express 6. When I double click on the file it opens as a text file in Notepad and doesn't display the puzzle.

Wis, your solution to change the extension .htm works fine, though like you said, it displays with a lot garbage at the top, email header information probably.

Leena, the link you provided gave me ideas. It mentioned the alternative extension .EML. Using Wis' idea of changing the extension, I changed it to .EML and double clicked on the file. The puzzle displayed successfully and cleanly as a proper email message using Outlook Express. You might try it to see if it works for you.

Thanks again for all the input. It was a successful group effort!

First of all I am happy to hear that difficulty in reading the Page-a-Day Brainteasers appears to have been resolved satisfactorily.

On the subject of Easter eggs and review I beleive that I do indedd have all of them in my Conceptis Pic-a-Pix collection. Pleae bear in mind that all puzzles with a name rather than a number are at the end with a prefix "C-" and listed alphabetically. Additionally since I am maintainig the puzzles and the solutions in separate files I have not bother to retain the P- or S- prefix so that everything can be found in it's correct numerical or alphabetical position depending of course on whether the puzzle is named or numbered.

If I have indeed missed any please identify them and bring them to my attention and I will gladly add them.

I beleive that I have my hands full with the thousands of puzzles that I am in the process of adding and/or converting and would greatly appreciate it if anybody has any cross references for either magazine Nonograms or review puzzles they send this to me and I will gladly add it to my cross-reference text file so that they can be easily located by any member that so desires.

Since numerous members appear to be looking for edges I would like to propose that any member who programming capabilities be kind enough to write a program to do this from the solution files and make it available on this forum as oops did with PicPuz. I would then be glad to add a folder with edges to all Pic-a-Pix puzzles and update on a regular basis for all puzzles with a PicPuz solution available.

Happy Solving to all of you.

I actually thought it would be more "challenging" and interesting to make a section for puzzles' edges, that members that solved the puzzle would fill (as they have been doing until today) but in an ordered way, so that there won't be multiple times the same edges, it would also be easier to look for them...(and then to archive them after they are check to be right). I guess it would be fun to "proudly" be the first one that gave the edges after solving a puzzle... (kind of competition on who helps other first... )It is like the solving the review puzzle each week, it makes it more special...copying the edges after a machine solved the puzzles is boring and not interesting in my view...Just my thoughts...

Isaac, since Oops has made the program and he is the only one who has the source code, it is practically impossible for anyone else to write that program. The programmer had to know how the solution is saved and how to call it in order to pick just the 4 edges.
Besides, as everybody who learns to solve these puzzles does know how to do it without the edges I think it is not so important. There are also puzzles whose edges are obvious but the solution gets very complicated a few rows/columns later.
I still suggest the whole solution or help from others in the forum.

We also have to remember that the new website has totally new features and maybe the edges become totally unnecessary.

A new cumulative file for Nonograms - (A-M) has just been uploaded to esnips including Over 600 Nonogram puzzles with their solutions fron the defunct GUL website. These puzzles were originally converted by Cyclone and I have just modified them so that they are all in multiples of 5 and ascertained their solvability. There is however one puzzle numbered GUL-00158 that I have had diificulty in providing a solution for. If anyone could povide it so that it could be included it would be greatly appreciated.

Happy solving

gul158 is not a valid puzzle. According to a more advanced solver than PicPuz it has 622 possible solutions
I think whoever has drawn it, has thought about symmetry, but in my opinion it should be removed as not valid.
That is very usual in other websites. I've come across to this problem and also puzzles with wrong hints.
