Hi all !
I would like a thread for recommending puzzles that have that "oh, you've gotta do this one!"

So ...
My last good puzzle was PicAPix 00390100125 Mega B&W published Jan 17, 2014. I don't often look at the resulting picture but this one is
different - what do you see? I think that doing the color puzzles has dulled my abilities in B&W. I needed
4 attempts to solve this one, yet by MY rating system this one is "tedious with mild reasoning" - in other
words, a very good puzzle to do again in a few months!

Is there a way to actually plug in a puzzle number into a search box, and go directly to it? I've never seen one here. Without one, it could take days to look for a particular puzzle. Even giving us a "published date" would help a little. Even so, adding a search box for the puzzles would sure be nice, Hint! Hint! [&:]

You can do this search with a little bit of creativity. Use the following format, and modify according to the puzzle ID:

Thanks, Dave

I did this one on your advice. It took me a bit longer than average, but I do get distracted. The resulting picture is a rendition of a classic painting. I wish more PAP puzzles resulted in a picture worth looking at, but most of the really large ones are pretty neat. Now if had been in color, that would have been really impressive.

The post made me think of an obvious question: has Conceptis ever done the same PAP in both B&W and color?
I'm thinking that most PAP-B&W can be made into a PAP-color. Tell me true !

(Don't mind me - today I am sick and I am very glad to have the Conceptis website to help me pass the time
((and my ability with a puzzle tells me just how sick I am !!! (laugh) )) )

I don't think we ever tried turning a B&W puzzle into color pixel by pixel. One reason is that we probably didn't find any need to do this. The other reason is that we prefer each puzzle to be different. Note that although it's possible to change B&W pixels into color, the overall art quality may not be very pleasing.

Thanks, Dave

I suppose it would also require additional to work to make the color version of an original B&W puzzle solvable since different colors can be adjacent while B&W have the defined gaps. It's probably the same amount of work as creating a completely new puzzle.

My last good puzzle was 00390100138 - a Mega B&W. This puzzle was one-square-at-a-time, square-by-square, ...
incredibly tedious - AND I LOVED IT !!!
Until I looked at the result.
I do B&W on paper, so I placed the finished piece (Mega's are masterpieces!) upright and walked around to view it
from different angles. "Nope. Something's wrong," I said to myself. I looked at the website solution and I did
it OK. Then I thought, "This is a puzzle that if someone ASSUMES/GUESSES how to mark some particular squares based
on the apparent picture, that person will soon find themselves with a mess."
I think I like PAPs that keep me attentive - cautious, yet certain of every mark. This puzzle is that!

I prefer the color pic-a-pix pictures, but unfortunately they haven't been that good lately. There have been a lot of puzzles which turn out to be only the OUTLINES of pictures, rather than complete ones. When you are dealing with rather large pixels, the resulting image appears amateurish. I'm going to wait awhile before I purchase any more credits...
