A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (Full Version)

gj_schoneveld -> A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/18/2009 5:26:33 PM) The 2nd Advanced Logic Fill-a-Pix of this new week seems to contain multiple solutions. I have attached a picture with the situation where I couldn't determine the next step. The accepted solution is with blacks on the 1 and on 4, but I think it is also possible to put that upper black thing on the right side of the 1. (And I see even more possibilities...) Otherwise there's no clear choice for which of the two squares to fill that are shared between the 2 and 1. I'd say there was a misstep in the puzzle lab.

xiuying -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/19/2009 4:53:46 PM) I saw that too and was just coming here to post about it! Glad to know I'm not crazy. :)

dave -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/19/2009 11:57:16 PM) Hi All Thank you for your comments, and this is indeed the first time we have a problem like this. Will check it out next week. Thanks, Dave

Boodle -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/20/2009 5:45:24 PM) I was ready to post the same screenshot. Glad to know it's been found.

natalias -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/21/2009 2:22:17 PM) I must apologize to all who tried to solve this puzzle (03190100164), it indeed did not have a single possible solution. This was my mistake, a human error, I published this puzzle prematurely before it was verified by our algorithm. I will make sure this does not happen again. Meanwhile we replaced the puzzle with a different version (same picture in the end, different numbers). Claudia -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/21/2009 5:12:42 PM) Funny! Whether because you gave it the exact same name or whatever, my solution to the other puzzle gets applied to this one and it's already solved.

lekahe -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/21/2009 9:12:10 PM) Claudia, it is the same puzzle, but now the clues are a bit different to make it solvable. Leena

Boodle -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/22/2009 12:40:31 AM) Wow, I assumed these puzzles were created by a program and that a bug had shown itself. It's actually nice to realise that they're created by people, but it must take ages no?

dave -> RE: A Fill-a-Pix with multiple solutions this week? (9/23/2009 12:22:53 AM) Hi Boodle The pictures of the puzzles are first drawn by an artist and then converted into a puzzle using our proprietary algorithm. For some reason the conversion of this puzzle was aborted before completion, thus leading to a puzzle with multiple solutions. Although this is the first time it has ever happened to us we're thinking of improving the algorithm to disable export or provide a warning message in such events. Thanks, Dave
